In my previous posts, we discussed about the importance of picking out the scrapbooking materials and how to properly store them to make their lifespan longer. At the end of the day with all the precautions, we find ourselves spending more money than we should just for our love of scrapbooking. There is a cheaper alternative to enjoy scrapbooking without breaking the bank and that is digital scrapbooking.

These are the advantages why even though we will use electronics, digital scrapbooking is still cheaper than actually creating pages by hand. If you often use your computer and surf the net, then scrapbooking will not add to your internet and electric bills. Even if it does, it will not be that significant because it will only depend how long you stay in front of your computer. And if you are using renewable energy, then there will be no problems at all.

Another advantage why scrapbooking can be cheap is that you will only need scrapbooking kits which are usually found on scrapbooking softwares or free on some sites that you can reuse each and every time you need it. Just be careful when saving each item like backgrounds and embellishments to a different filename, that way you not only multiply your digital materials, but you still preserve the original state of the kits. What is more is that you do not need to throw away scraps or figure how to reuse them after cutting and cropping. And when you actually commit mistakes, it is easy to undo your previous actions and make necessary adjustments.

Another advantage of cheap scrapbooking is you have the option how to display and preserve your work. You can display your work through social networks or photo sharing sites. You can also email your work. In other words, you can replicate over and over your work with no cost at all. And if you decide to print your work, just go to any photo printing labs. And when you have enough pages, get it bound. A nice idea for creating albums is to use photo books or coffee table books. You will not have a problem in terms of finding materials and making sure they are photo safe, like Mixbook, they provide high quality papers if you decided to get your digital scrapbooks printed.

Another advantage of cheap digital scrapbooking is that it so easy to store. I would recommend you to create multiple back-ups for your works. Burn them on cds and use back-up storages. You can also use photo sharing sites as back-ups in case all else fail. For the printed works, apply proper storage and balancing of environment to prevent the pictures for deterioration.

So in recap, cheap scrapbooking is possible if you go digital. You only need to familiarize yourself with all the necessary tools for digital scrapbooking. You need a computer, internet, photo editors or scrapbooking softwares, social network or photo sharing sites accounts, cds or back-up hard drives, and photo labs. These are only a few to replace all tools in traditional scrapbooking and will save you tons of money.
